Mentoring the Entrepreneurs

MBC uses different ways to coach new entrepreneurs: coaching in small groups or through the mentor meetings.

Our first experience

The first MBC mentor meeting took place last September 2017 in Quezon City. We were delighted to see approximately 50 attendees, including former and current students and entrepreneurs from the various comminities reached by the MBC trainings. Members of the Center for Community Transformation (CCT), Good Neighbors, Compass Philippines, Mission Ministries Philippines and others helped as group leaders/mentors to make it a meaningful gathering.

Raymund Soriano set the mood by asking fun icebreaker questions about the SYB and GYB terminologies, which brought back positive memories for the participant. Pastor Marlon Roldan opened the day with biblical principles related to MBC training and coaching.

Dreams and Ideals

To find out how we could help the best those involved in the MBC activities, Pons Asidero conducted a session on personal motivation, encouraging participants to re-give space to their dreams and ideals. Myke James shared his personal journey as an entrepreneur and encouraged participants to persevere and not give up on their goals.

Small groups

It was our first trial in sharing experiences in small groups of entrepreneurs, together with a mentor. It showed once again how important it is that training and business start-ups should go hand in hand with mentoring of the entrepreneurs. And working with small groups helps us to learn from each other, and where possible, we can help each other a step further.

Nick David shared the experiences and results of the group mentoring, from which he distilled how we as entrepreneurs can best support each other. Each of the participants experienced the positive effect of the mutual contacts and networks, so that they looked forward to the next Mentors Meeting, scheduled for November 2017.
