Imelda “Imee” has started a company called “Kings Garden – Squash Production” to produce squash in 5 areas of 1 hectare. She will sell the proceeds of the land in Metro-Manila markets. Her business will generate income for herself and a group of pastors and/or partners.
The pastors are also the farmers who will work the land. To set up and run the company, Imee developed a business plan together with the MBC. The MBC will put Imee in contact with a business coach for about 6 months. He will coach and advise her to keep her business running smoothly.
VThrough a generous sponsor in the Netherlands, Imee received a loan so that they can invest in seeds and othermaterials, wages for workers who prepare the land for sowing. Imee is very excited to start and grow this company, literally and figuratively! At the end of September 2016, the MBC was able to hand over a check as the symbolic start of the project.
