Shirly owns a junk shop. People who collect reusable material from waste can hand it in to her. She then sells the old bottles, cardboard, glass, metal, etc. in larger quantities to the recycling factory. She has no workshop but an old truck. The garbage collectors line up in front of her truck to hand in their collected old junk to her in exchange for pesos. Shirly would like to expand.
“I came into contact with the MBC training and learned to put the knowledge I gained there into practice in my company. My one truck causes a lot of delay for the purchase and sale of the recyclable materials.”
Business plan for a Truck
With the help of the MBC, she wrote a Business Plan to enable the purchase of a second truck. With a loan from the microfinance organization CCT, a partner of MBC, she was able to buy a second-hand car. Now there is much more traffic. While one truck takes the old materials to the factory, the waste collectors can hand in their stuff to her second truck. When it returns from the factory, the roles are reversed.
Shirly not only experienced transfer of theoretical knowledge from the MBC, but also involvement of the MBC team members in the ups and downs of her family and business. She described her happiness on Facebook and proudly showed the photos of her new truck. She also has plans to use the truck as a moving van to generate more income.
